The TUNG Brush and Gel were the brain child of dentist Dr. Steven Wieder and was co-developed by his partner, Florida entrepreneur Tom Oechslin. During his years of dental practice, Dr. Wieder was deeply devoted to his patient’s oral health. He was keenly aware of the social impact bad breath had on his patients.

Wieder knew early on that 90% of bad breath causes are from bacteria on the tongue’s unique, irregular surface. However, after production of TUNG began, it became universally known in the dental profession that the issue of bad breath and cleaning your tongue was much bigger; the tongue was now directly responsible for gum disease which was proven to have significant adverse health affects such as cancer, early births and heart disease. Dr. Wieder knew that the only tools available to consumers were ineffective and uncomfortable to use (toothbrushes and tongue scrapers), therefore patients didn’t use them, which was a huge problem.  The frustration by patients for a lack of a solution moved Wieder to create a tool that would not only be effective, but consumers would actually enjoy using.

Wieder and Oechslin teamed up to solve this problem and the first Original TUNG Brush and TUNG Gel were born. The first of their kind, these unique tools were designed to effectively, efficiently and comfortably clean the tongue while minimizing gagging; tools the customer would enjoy using while being confident their breath was fresh.

The two decided to name the company Peak Enterprises, Inc. for a reason. They knew that entering the US and international oral care market and competing with the giants would take determination and perseverance and thus, be a “climb”. They also knew that when they reached the top, they would be making a significant impact on the quality of life of millions of people.

A significant characteristic of Peak is our insistence to manufacture TUNG products in the U.S.; because we believe in America.

Sure, it’s more difficult to compete on price with others manufacturing in China as profits are sacrificed, but the edge goes to Peak in quality and service. The fact is, we know the names and the faces of the folks in Tennessee, Wisconsin, Ohio, New York, Chicago, Florida and Toronto who manufacture TUNG products- this matters to us. At the end of the day, we’re proud to know that we’ve contributed to putting food on their table while growing our overall economy.

We are not the biggest consumer products company, just a very committed one; committed to excellence because we believe the issue of bad breath warrants it and the customer deserves it. Peak knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, when TUNG ends up in a customer’s hands, it will significantly improve their life, socially and physically. We don’t think bad breath is funny, and that’s why TUNG was born…
